// NOT ANOTHER NFT

NFTs solved ownership and forgot utility, cost, and permanence.

Flux Permanent Verifiable Assets are signed, content-addressed, citation-aware records — minted as a free local write, not a transaction. This page states plainly what that means today and what it's meant to grow into.

LIVE built, deployed, tested    ROADMAP real direction, not yet built

01 / WHY NFTs FAILED

The problem wasn't ownership. It was everything around it.

NFT problemPVA answer
Expensive minting (gas fees)A signed record appended to a local log — no transaction, no fee
Metadata rot (centralized hosts)Content-addressed by CID; the record itself, not a pointer to someone's server
No utility beyond speculationCitation-aware, peer-reviewable, evolvable by design
Centralized marketplacesNo marketplace at all — read the registry directly
No real identity bindingEd25519-signed by the author's own key, verified on every read
Rug-pull / silent history rewritesAppend-only — a correction is a new, linked record, the original is never altered

The right column above is the thesis this project is building toward, not a claim that every row is deployed — see each claim's own LIVE/ROADMAP mark through the rest of this page.

02 / THE ASSET TAXONOMY

Three classes of permanent, verifiable object

LIVE

F-ASSET-ACADEMIA

Research papers, datasets, peer reviews, errata.

  • Append-only corrections — the original stays, an errata record links to it
  • A peer-review-derived rating (today: preliminary / verified / disputed)
  • A real citation graph — cites and cited-by, traversable

ROADMAP

F-ASSET-SOCIAL

Credentials, memberships, votes, reputation.

  • Bound to a signing identity, not transferable
  • Issuer-signed, issuer-revocable
  • Reacts to community/graph state changes

ROADMAP

F-ASSET-BLOCKCHAIN

Utility tokens, access keys, storage leases, governance stubs.

  • Programmable via WASM hooks
  • Carries its own usage state
  • Exists across multiple real, separated networks (devnet/mainnet)

03 / ECONOMICS

Zero cost, stated precisely

LIVE Minting a paper today really is free: one Ed25519-signed record, one local append to a durable log, no fee of any kind — not because of a storage-allocation model distributing cost elsewhere, but because there is no fee mechanism at all.

ROADMAP The real direction is a 20/30/50 storage allocation — a chosen share of a holder's own pinning capacity, a share reserved for network-critical infrastructure, and a general pool that boosts under-replicated assets automatically. None of that exists yet; today there is no replication and no pinning model at all.

04 / PERMANENCE

Stated honestly: today is one copy, on one server

LIVE Every record is held in a real, append-only, replay-verified durable log. That's genuine durability against a process restart — proven by a real test that kills and reopens the store.

It is not yet durability against that one server being lost: the registry runs as a single instance, unreplicated. That's a real, current limitation, not a detail to gloss over with the roadmap below.

ROADMAP The intended model is three real tiers — a hot, always-on copy; a warm, append-only replicated log; a cold, long-term archival copy — so an asset degrades gracefully instead of disappearing, and its CID stays resolvable even if every pinning copy is eventually gone.
